Schedule Visits

Visits Visit Date Remarks Status
1st Visit Date 21 Feb, 2022 At night , on days without sunlight or with overcast weather and rain, water will not have enough dissolved oxygen for shrimp, At this time , dissolved oxygen should be increased by using paddle wheel aerator, aeration blower,or partial water exchange. Completed
2nd Visit Date 23 Feb, 2022 The growth of shrimps is retarded if pH falls below 5.0 . water with low pH can be corrected by adding lime to neutralize the acidity. Completed
3rd Visit Date 25 Feb, 2022 water & soil treatments: After stocking , probiotics, minerals, zeolites, ammonia reducer compounds , dissolved oxygen (Do) enhancer compounds and disinfectants are widely used at regular intervals. Completed
4th Visit Date 28 Feb, 2022 Take random samples vertically covering the top, middle and bottom of the water column-as well as horizontally, covering various sides of the pond.sampling is done to estimate the MBW,which is calculated by dividing the total weight by the no.of shrimp Completed
5th Visit Date 02 Mar, 2022 Total dissolved solids is a measure of the dissolved combined content of all inorganic and organic substances present in a liquid in molecular , ionized, or micro - granular suspended form. Completed
6th Visit Date 07 Mar, 2022 The composition of pond water changes continuously, depending on climatic and seasonal changes, and on how a pond is used. It is the aim of good management to control the composition to yield the best conditions for the Shrimp. Completed
7th Visit Date 14 Mar, 2022 Increasing pond aeration or the process of removing dissolved gases is another way of decreasing ammonia concentration. Completed
8th Visit Date 21 Mar, 2022 Increasing pond aeration or the process of removing dissolved gases is another way of decreasing ammonia concentration in a fish pond. In a small scale pond , aerating will remove the dissolved toxic Ammonia through diffusion from water into the air. Completed
9th Visit Date 28 Mar, 2022 Aquatic organisms will use twice as much dissolved oxygen and chemical reactions will progress twice as fast at 30c than 20c. It fallows therefore that dissolved oxygen requirement of aquatic species is higher in warmer than in cool water. Completed
10th Visit Date 30 Mar, 2022 Shrimps move around the pond at night looking for food. They are attracted to light .They are stimulated by movement of water. when water is let into a pond, the shrimp become active, swimming around the pond and often gathering near the sluice gate. Completed

Good Practices: Prolong exposure to the stress of low concentration of oxygen lowers their resistance to disease and inhibits their growth.
Bad Practices: Oxygen levels also may be reduced when there are too many bacteria or algae in water. Check algal growth.
Suggestions Given:
At night , on days without sunlight or with overcast weather and rain, water will not have enough dissolved oxygen for shrimp, At this time , dissolved oxygen should be increased by using paddle wheel aerator, aeration blower,or partial water exchange.

Good Practices: water with PH ranging from 7.5 to 9.0 are generally regarded as suitable for shrimp production. Water of excessive alkalinity ( PH Values> 9.5)may also be harmful to shrimp growth and survival.High pH leads to high Plankton growth effects DO in water
Bad Practices: The increase in pH transforms the ammonium ion (NH4+) into Ammonia gas ( NH3), which increases the concentration of toxic Ammonia in the water. The pH is therefore a determining factor in the risk of ammonia poisoning of fish and shrimp.
Suggestions Given:
The growth of shrimps is retarded if pH falls below 5.0 . water with low pH can be corrected by adding lime to neutralize the acidity.

Good Practices: Aeration:one to three single horse power paddle wheel aerators are usually used, depending on farm size and stocking densities. The areators typically operate for8-12 hours per day during the entire culture period.Aerators are placed 3m away from dykes
Bad Practices: Mortality of shrimp seed occurs due to bad handing during transport. Bad management practices like inadequate nutrition, poor water quality maintenance were corelated with the incidences of loose shell syndrome in L.Vannamei.
Suggestions Given:
water & soil treatments: After stocking , probiotics, minerals, zeolites, ammonia reducer compounds , dissolved oxygen (Do) enhancer compounds and disinfectants are widely used at regular intervals.

Good Practices: Take shrimp samples regularly: sampling allows farmers to understand shrimp growth&adjust the feed regime, preventing over feeding&underfeeding.it is recommended to take shrimp samples every 5 to7 days using nets.appropriate to the current shrimp size
Bad Practices: Avoid sampling near the feed trays because the shrimp there tend to be bigger than the rest. Avoid sampling when the shrimp are moulting.
Suggestions Given:
Take random samples vertically covering the top, middle and bottom of the water column-as well as horizontally, covering various sides of the pond.sampling is done to estimate the MBW,which is calculated by dividing the total weight by the no.of shrimp

Good Practices: The inorganic salts and small amounts of organic matter present in solution in water. The principal constituents are usually calcium , magnesium, sodium, and potassium cations and carbonate, hydrogen carbonate, chloride, sulfate, and nitrate.
Bad Practices: TDS concentrations are often reported in parts per million, water TDS concentrations can be determined using a digital meter.
Suggestions Given:
Total dissolved solids is a measure of the dissolved combined content of all inorganic and organic substances present in a liquid in molecular , ionized, or micro - granular suspended form.

Good Practices: Above aoptimum range shrimp will exhibit poor growth, erratic behaviour, and disease symptoms or parasite infestations. Under extreme cases, or where the poor conditions remain for prolonged periods of time, shrimp mortality may occur.
Bad Practices: Frequent water quality check up is Suggested
Suggestions Given:
The composition of pond water changes continuously, depending on climatic and seasonal changes, and on how a pond is used. It is the aim of good management to control the composition to yield the best conditions for the Shrimp.

Good Practices: Ammonia is toxic to L.Vannamei because high concentrations can damage the gill , hepatopancreas and possibly the gut lining .This will damage - such as respiration , metabolism , immunity, osmotic regulation, nutrient absorption & moulting.
Bad Practices: Low levels of ammonia 0.03 mg/1 ( PPM) or less are not harmful to shrimp or fish , any level above is considered harmful.
Suggestions Given:
Increasing pond aeration or the process of removing dissolved gases is another way of decreasing ammonia concentration.

Good Practices: Nitrogen fertilizers such as urea or ammonium nitrate can be applied to ponds to stimulate phytoplankton growth and increase the natural food base for fish or shrimp production.
Bad Practices: Nitrite also can be toxic to aquatic animals, for it is absorbed and interferes with the ability of blood to transport oxygen.
Suggestions Given:
Increasing pond aeration or the process of removing dissolved gases is another way of decreasing ammonia concentration in a fish pond. In a small scale pond , aerating will remove the dissolved toxic Ammonia through diffusion from water into the air.

Good Practices: water temperature plays a very important role in regulating the activities of the cultured animal. The rate of chemical and biological reactions is said to double every 10° c increase in temperature.

Good Practices: Partial harvesting is useful in some types of management systems where only large shrimp are to be caught and smaller shrimp left in the pond to grow larger.
Bad Practices: sampling is compulsory before harvesting
Suggestions Given:
Shrimps move around the pond at night looking for food. They are attracted to light .They are stimulated by movement of water. when water is let into a pond, the shrimp become active, swimming around the pond and often gathering near the sluice gate.
